Jack Sprague / NetZero Chevrolet Bristol Motor Speedway
Post-Race Quotes
Jack Sprague finished 19th in Saturday's Channellock 250 at Bristol Motor
Speedway after hitting the wall on the last lap of the 250 lap event. Two
major events are what caused the No. 24 NetZero Chevrolet to post its first
finish of the season outside the Top 10.
The first incident was on Lap 104. Joe Buford, driver of the No. 49 car
got into Sprague, causing minimal cosmetic damage, but knocked the rear sway
bar out one inch. The crew was able to work on the car and managed to knock
it back almost the full inch. Unfortunately, Sprague lost three laps while
the work was done.
Sprague wasn't running for position for most of the race and on the last
lap of the 133-mile event, Jimmy Spencer, driver of the No. 1 car, who was
racing for the lead, drove way down on the apron of the track and clipped
Sprague in the left rear quarter panel. The NetZero team was left with
nothing, but a destroyed race.
The 19th place finish ended Sprague's streak of Top 10 finishes. Sprague
is now fourth in the season championship standings, 50 points out of first
place.
Jack Sprague Race Quotes:
"I don't even have a clue as to what happened out there today. I was hit
by the No. 49 car and don't know how and then Spencer goes and gets me on
the last lap. We weren't even fighting for position. The car wasn't bad and
unfortunately it ended up a huge mess at the end."
"I was already laps down, not even running for the win so Jimmy's move
was ridiculous. The only car I was racing out there was the No. 14 of Larry
Foyt and he ended up getting in a wreck, leaving us with really nothing to
gain. We just had to finish and would have brought the car home in one
piece. Jimmy (Spencer) wasn't the only one out there today that made some
bad moves. It's disappointing, but I'm going to keep my cool and look to the
next race."
Qualifying quotes:
"I was loose at the end of Friday's practice and unfortunately wound up
hitting the wall. I hate that it happened, but the guys worked hard and
switched everything over to the backup car and that actually ended up better
during the final practice. It just didn't qualify well. Obviously the pole
was a long shot, but 31st wasn't what we were looking for either. The car
was just so tight and I don't know what happened. It was the same set-up as
the primary car had, but it just pushed its butt off."
