Sprague / NetZero Chevy Ready for
Another Victory at Bristol
Bristol, TN (March 18, 2002) -
Jack Sprague's driving style is quite different than that of
the young guns in the NASCAR Busch Series ranks. Whether it's practice,
qualifying or the actual race, Sprague and his No. 24 NetZero Chevy are set
on warp speed. It's that style that just might earn Sprague his second
Bristol Motor Speedway win and his first career NBS victory at the famed
short track.
"I Love
Bristol," said Sprague, who went to Victory Lane the last time he tackled
the .533-mile track winning the 1999 Coca-Cola 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck
Series race. "I'm definitely looking forward to this weekend's Busch Series
race. Our success in the past has been really good at Bristol and my last
trip there was in 1999 when I qualified third and won the race. The success
we have been able to have at Bristol is pretty cool considering how tough of
a track it can be."
In addition to
his 1999 Coca-Cola 200 NCTS triumph, Sprague also finished fifth in the 1996
Truck Series clash and in 1998 posted a second-place NCTS effort behind his
now Hendrick Motorsports NBS teammate, Ron Hornaday, Jr. In five Bristol
NCTS starts, The Spring Lake, MI driver has posted a fourth-place finishing
average.
Sprague also
owns a trio of Busch Series starts, the first coming in the 1990 Johnson
250, and one Winston Cup Series start in the 1997 Food City 500. While
Sprague's hard-charging style will serve him well at Bristol, his experience
might be what gets his NetZero Chevy to the front.
"It's pretty
simple when it comes to racing at Bristol," Sprague said. "You have to be
both aggressive and patient. If your car is handling good, you'll have a
good day of racing. If the car's not handling well, then it will seem like
the longest day of your life."
Sprague is making his way to
the Tennessee Mountain Empire speedway after a ninth place finish last
weekend at Darlington Raceway. Sprague's impressive return to the Busch
Series this season has earned him four Top-10 finishes and is currently
third in the point standings.
"I'm excited about our results
this season and would like to see that will continue this weekend at
Bristol," said Sprague. "I'm hoping our set ups from the Truck Series will
cross over. We'll try to stay out of trouble and leave with another good
finish. A win would be great, but you need be realistic when it comes to
racing at Bristol."
The Channellock 250 will take
the green flag Saturday, March 23 at 1 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The
event will be the fifth of 34 NASCAR Busch Series races this season and will
be telecast live on FX. PRN Radio will also broadcast the race live on more
than 300 affiliated stations worldwide.
