MILLINGTON, TN (October 12, 2002) - Jack Sprague's Memphis 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race last year was no doubt a heartbreaker for everyone on the team. After Sprague fired off the quickest lap in qualifying to capture the pole he went on to lead more laps than any other driver, but his shot at a victory vanished on Lap 138 when an oil line failed on his then No. 24 NetZero Chevrolet Silverado.

"Last year's race had started out good, but ended up terrible for us," said Sprague. We had a really good truck, took the pole and then went out for the race and led a ton of laps. I couldn't believe it when an oil line had failed and cost us the race. It was ours to win."

Sprague is hoping things work out for him and the NetZero team as they return to the Memphis short track coming off a disappointing 25th-place finish due to mechanical failure last weekend at Charlotte. The Spring Lake, MI native is ready to get down to business and get back what he feels he lost last year in this weekend's Sam's Town 250 NASCAR Busch Series race at Memphis Motorsports Park.

"It's crunch time," said Sprague who won the 2000 Quaker State 200 NCTS event at Memphis. "We've had a pretty good year coming out the new guys on the block, but because it started out so good it looks like we've slowed up. We won the race at Nashville, but we want another one under our belts. Memphis is a track we have the capability to win at. I won a truck race at Memphis a few years ago, but other than that, I don't consider Memphis one of my best tracks."

Sprague's never considered himself a major threat at the .75-mile Memphis oval, but the books prove in his four NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series starts he's had some good runs. The veteran driver managed to clinch one win and two ninth-place finishes during his career. The records also reflect Sprague has never started a race worse than 15th leaving him with a sixth-place starting average.

"Memphis is a little challenging, but you get used to it after you run a bunch of laps," said Sprague. "It's a little bit like Richmond. It has two grooves so you can run up high and down low, which makes for good racing. You need to have a good handling racecar to be good all day. Aerodynamics isn't important when you're running Memphis. What's important for this race is chassis and tire wear. We've got a decent car for the race. I don't really know how it will do in qualifying, but it should be good for the race."

Sprague's chances of a winning at Memphis are on good especially with the car he and the team have chosen for this weekend's event.  "Chassis 234" is the lucky dog and a good match for Sprague. Sprague's had two Top-10 finishes with 234 at Dover this year.

The Sam's Town 250 will take the green flag Saturday, October 19 at 2 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The event will be the 30th of 34 NASCAR Busch Series races this season and will be telecast live on NBC. MRN Radio will also broadcast the race live on more than 300 affiliated stations worldwide.
