Sprague, NetZero Chevy Ready
for Round Two at Nashville
LEBANON, TN (June 4, 2002) -Jack Sprague's last turn on the
newly ground concrete at Nashville Superspeedway earned him a second-place
finish in the Pepsi 300 NASCAR Busch Series event.. It was a strong effort
for Sprague and his No. 24 NetZero Chevrolet Monte Carlo, but you can be
sure Sprague will be looking for more when he returns for the Inside Traxx
300.
"The last time we were at Nashville, the NetZero Chevy was just
awesome," said Sprague, who came home second to eventual winner Scott Riggs.
"My Hendrick Motorsports guys kept me in the hunt every time we came in to
pit. On the last stop, a bunch of guys took only two tires while we took
four and that's basically where we lost our shot at the win. We ran faster
than Scott all day. They were just quicker out of the pits than we were and
then we had traffic to deal with and couldn't catch him."
Sprague's history at Nashville is short, but it has certainly been
productive. His first outing at the 1.33-mile Nashville tri-oval came in
the 2001 Federated Auto Parts 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race where
he sat on the outside pole and finished 21st. Now with a solid Busch Series
effort, Sprague is confident he can win at the Nashville track.
"Now I've got some experience in a Busch car at Nashville and that's
going to help us a lot," said Sprague. "We got some good notes to build on
from the first race a few months ago and I really think we have a good
chance to win there. We're bringing the same car we had last time - it's a
good handling car and fun to race."
Sprague enters the Nashville NBS event coming off another fifth-place finish
in the most recent series race at Dover International Speedway. He regained
the lead in the season standings heading into the 225-lap Nashville race.
"I'm certainly not disappointed with finishing second here a few
months ago, but man, I really think we could have won that race," said
Sprague. "This weekend's race will be a whole new game because it's a night
race. I don't know what the track conditions will be, so we'll just have to
wait and see. "
The Inside Traxx 300 NASCAR Busch Series race at Nashville
Superspeedway will take the green flag Saturday, June 8 at 7 p.m. Eastern
Daylight Time. The event will be the 15th of 34 NASCAR Busch Series races
this season and will be telecast live on FX. MRN Radio will also broadcast
the race live.
