Another Top-10 Finish for Jack Sprague and NetZero at Rockingham

ROCKINGHAM, NC (November 3, 2002) - Jack Sprague went on to a 10th-place finish in Saturday's Sam's Club 200 NASCAR Busch Series race at North Carolina Speedway. The finish marked Sprague's 15th Top-10 of the season, his second at "The Rock" this year.

"It was a good day for the NetZero team," said Sprague, who is currently fifth in the series point standings. "We qualified pretty good and honestly the car was better than our finish. The car was a little tight, but it came around pretty quick and it was fast. The guys were awesome, as they always are in the pits. I just didn't get a good set of tires at the end and the car was extremely loose and ended up fighting to drive it. We desperately needed a caution, but it came to late in the race for us to gain any ground. Still, it was a good day for us. We got another top-10 and didn't loose anymore spots in the points."

Sprague started the 197 Lap Rockingham event from the sixth position after his No. 24 Chevy posted a lap speed of 152.811 miles per hour (23.959 seconds). Sprague ran with lead pack as he worked his way to the front. Sprague made his first green flag pit stop on Lap 90. Running in the sixth position, the NetZero Chevy rolled onto pit road for four fresh tires and two cans of fuel.

Sprague went back onto the track in the 12th position, but it didn't take long for him to get back in the sixth spot. On Lap 110, Sprague came back in for service. This time it was four tires, a wedge adjustment and minor repairs to the right rear quarter panel of his NetZero ride. Unfortunately, the new tires didn't work to Sprague's advantage. Sprague made a final trip to pit road on Lap 130, but the Spring Lake, MI native wasn't able to work his way back to the front and went a lap down with only 30 circuits remaining in the race to finish in the tenth spot.

"We had a better car than we ended up with at the end, but that last set of tires was terrible," said Sprague. "I felt like I was driving on four flat tires the whole time. Oh well, we got a decent finish out of it and the car doesn't need much work, so now we have a good car for Homestead."

Next up for Sprague and the NetZero crew will be the Bashas' 200 NASCAR Busch Series race at Phoenix International Raceway. The field will take the green flag on Saturday, November 9 at 2 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Race 33 of the 34 scheduled events will be telecast live on NBC. MRN Radio will also broadcast the race live on more than 300 affiliated stations worldwide.
