No. 0 Pontiac Survives Crash in
Practice
DAYTONA BEACH, Fl.-- (February 11, 2003) The No. 0
NetZero Pontiac suffered minor damage to its front end after being involved
in a five-car accident during practice Tuesday at Daytona International
Speedway. Jack Sprague was practicing for the upcoming Gatorade 125-mile
qualifying race when he bumped into Steve Park, causing Park's Pennzoil
Chevrolet to spin into Mike Skinner's Kodak Pontiac. Elliot Sadler and Jeff
Burton couldn't avoid hitting Skinner's car, and their cars suffered severe
damage, forcing the three drivers to go with backup cars for the Gatorade
125s.
The only damage to the Haas CNC Racing team Pontiac
was to the nose of the car, which the team planned on repairing. The NetZero
Pontiac will be back on the track Wednesday in the final practice session
before the qualifying race on Thursday. Dale Jarrett had the fastest time in
the practice at 188.494 mph while Sprague was 12th at 187.578 mph. The
Daytona 500 is scheduled for Sunday, February 16 at 12:00 p.m. EST.
