Rain Doesn’t Dampen Spirits at Wyler Charity Golf Outing
BATAVIA---In spite of the torrential rains that pummeled the Tri-State
on Tuesday, more than 135 golfers answered the call for the 2nd Annual
Wyler Charity Golf Outing held at the Elks Run Golf Course in Batavia.
This year’s designated beneficiary is the Reds Kids Community
Fund, the official nonprofit arm of the Cincinnati Reds. Established
in 2001, the Community Fund is dedicated to improving the lives of
youths through baseball. Their outreach efforts include the noncompetitive,
character-building “Reds Rookie Success League,” a youth-baseball
funding program for inner-city Knothole baseball organizations, as
well as a field-renovation program that has already adopted 18 inner-city
ball fields.
Though play was ultimately washed out by as much as 3 inches of
rain, dedicated attendees enthusiastically participated in a charity
auction that raised more than $40,000.
“Sure, we’re sorry we didn’t get out on the course,” said
Jeff Wyler. “But the most important thing was to raise money
for the kids. So, even though it poured, the day was still a success.”
The Jeff Wyler Automotive Family is one of the largest in the Tri-State,
representing 13 different automobile brands sold through ten locations.
